WHAT IS THE DÉFI SANS AUTO SOLO TEAM DEFINITION OF THE TRANSIT MODES ?

The DSA team defines the transit modes as followed :

Individual car use : car used only by one driving adult for transit.

Car-pool : car used by many people able to drive (17 years-old and more) in a same trip.

Public transit : use of a public transportation mode for transit. (eg. : bus, subway, commuter train, ferry, etc.).

Active transportation modes : human-powered transit mode (eg. : walk, bike, skateboard, rollerblade, etc.).

Teleworking : working at home or another place than the usual workplace.

​WHAT ARE THE COMPETITION CATEGORIES OF THE CHALENGE?

There are 4 categories of competition in the Défi sans auto solo :

Regional categories (small, medium, and large organizations) are defined by the number of employees/students participating for the organization. The threshold of theses categories vary depending of the region of registration of the organizations.

The Supra-regional category was created for larger organizations that own offices in several regions of Québec, and wish to compete under the same banner. To compete in this category, the participating organization must have 250 employees and more, plus buildings in at least 2 regions of Québec. 

HOW CAN PARTICIPANTS WIN THE DÉFI SANS AUTO SOLO ?
 

Provincial prizes are chosen randomly within all the participants registered all around Québec.

Regional prizes are chosen randomly by regions, within all the participants registered in the corresponding area.

HOW CAN ORGANIZATIONS WIN THE DÉFI SANS AUTO SOLO ?

 
The winning organizations of the challenge are determined with four criterias chosen in a matter of equity.

Participation rate : percentage of employees/students participating in the challenge.

Modal shift rate : percentage of employees/students used to come to work alone by car and who decided to choose an alternative mode of transit during the challenge day. 

Sustainable transport mode use rate : percentage of employees/students used to come to work by a sustainable mode of transport. (public transit, walk, bike, carpooling, etc.).

Site accessibility : Quality of the public transit service, and of the cycling and walking facilities around the workplace/study place.

WHAT ARE THE PROS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE DÉFI SANS AUTO SOLO ?

 

The challenge is an opportunity to integrate a promotion campaign in favor of sustainable transport to others initiatives, linked to sustainable development, health, or employees well-being,  taken by your organization.

MY ORGANIZATION IS NOT REGISTERED? WHAT DO I DO?

Contact the direction of your organization or a employees comity (green comity, health comity, etc.), that could assume the coordination of the challenge within the organization. If you wish, you could, with the approval of your organization, become coordinator of the Défi sans auto solo and mobilize your colleagues to participate. 


If your organization is not registered, but you still wish to participate in the challenge, you have to click on « Unafilliated Individual Registration » in the participant registration form.

HOW ARE THE COLLECTED PERSONNAL INFORMATION USED BY DÉFI SANS AUTO SOLO ? 

All the  collected personnal information is used only by the administrators of the challenge for statistical purposes and to determine the winners. No commercial or other communication, not linked to the Défi sans auto solo challenge will be transmitted to the participants, except if they consent to it.
